A Very Special Present Costume

You know, a case could be made that whoever's putting out this costume isn't trying to screw SNL out of licensing fees. That a dick in a box concept, and costume, is something that predates the SNL music video.

But the fact that the rest of the costume in a mid-80's R&B costume which is clearly inspired by the looks of the characters in that SNL skit is the final nail in the coffin.

Cupid Cutie Adult Costume

This is a cupid costume?

From the solicitation:
Includes: Bra top and skirt.
Does not include stockings, wings, bow and arrow or shoes.

DOES NOT INCLUDE WINGS!
DOES NOT INCLUDE BOW & ARROW

It's just a bra and a skirt. That's not a cupid costume. That's overpriced lingerie.

Deputy Clementine Reno 911 Costume

Is it fair to call this a "Deputy Clementine" costume when that character has a very specific look and this costume looks nothing like it?

What's the point of licenseing the character and property if you're just going to make a generic sexy sheriff costume?

Quadruplets?

You know what's a weird way to do a group picture for a costume set? Having the same model wear all four costumes and then photoshopping them together.

They do her hair differently in each costume, so it seems okay. But then you look at it a little longer and something just seems a little off.

Really weird? They have the same woman model the Glinda the Good Witch Costume & Wicked Witch costume.

SacCon

The Sacramento Comicbook, Toy & Anime Convention is held a few times a year. It's pretty small, essentially a large dealer's room with small areas set aside for gaming, artists, guests, and a maskerade. Quite frankly I'm amazed how many people attend dressed in costumes. But I guess if you put effort into creating a cosplay costume any opportunity to show it off should be taken.

So yeah, I took a couple pictures. But only of costumes I was REALLY impressed by... like:

This guy's Joker was impressive because he painted over his mustache, like Ceasar Romero.

Two ladies were dressed like the two aspects of Dr. McNinja's Soul.

I think the Dr McNinja Prop, which they had to carry around for the whole convention sells the costume and speaks to their dedication to accessories.

Then there was this awesome Doctor Doom costume I saw a girl in the audience wearing at the Masquerade.

Oh yeah, and I saw a friend win the award for best costume.

Rocky & Ivan Drago

Things I do not understand...

Why does the Rocky IV Rocky costume come with costume boxing gloves but the Rocky IV Ivan Drago costume not come with costume boxing gloves?

Sexy Green Lantern Costume

Holy shit!

They call it a Sexy Green Lantern Costume, but actually it's an interpreation costume of a character from the Green Lantern Comic.

See in the comic there's a character called Arisia. She's an alien that had a crush on Green Lantern, joined the Green Lantern Corps to be near him, and then entered into a brief relationship with him. The character's more screwed up than that, but that's the basic gist.

Her costume looks like this:

So this is a rare case of the sexy adaption of a character's costume being MORE conservative than the original.

Wow. That's just amazing. On two levels.

One that they actually covered up skin to make a sexy costume. And two that they made an Arisia costume.

Momentary

Found at Daily Costume.
What I love about this picture:
1) The disparate nature of the group. All from different properties, series, and fictional universes, but posed together.
2) The varying levels of cosplay shown. Everything from off the rack costume, to assembled from store bought pieces, to however the Naruto costume was done.
3)Everyone has a different type of shoe, but they're all appropriate.

Wilma Flintstone and Betty Rubble Costumes

Okay, seriously, what the hell?

I've never really understood why sexy costumes felt the need to have an exposed midriff. It's as if costume makers think that a bare belly equals instant sexy. I understand it's more exposed skin, and closer to naked, but that doesn't mean every sexy costume needs to be a two-piece.

Particularly when it ruins the costume.

Wilma Flinstone & Betty Rubble have a classic look. Removing the middriff from their dresses doesn't really add anything to the sexy qoutient of their costumes. Actually it takes a little bit away from it because it ruins the illusion.

80stees.com

I think I love the 80stees.com costume browse options for Costumes for Groups and Costumes for Buddies.

Finally, an option to tell you what costumes are available if everyone in your group wants to co-ordinate their costumes for greater effect.
